Each year PFLAG Tucson participates in
several community events, and this is a record of some of the things
that we do.

PFLAG SUPPORT MEETINGS
PFLAG holds its monthly support meetings
on the first Wednesday evening of each month at 7:00 pm at the Ward VI
City Council Office at 3202 E. 1st Street. We offer support not
just for parents but for LGBT people themselves and their friends and
allies. The heart of our support meetings is shared experience,
which helps all of us grow and adjust to our gay family members and
friends.

ANNUAL COUPLE'S CELEBRATION
Every February, PFLAG hosts Tucson's LGBT
couples with a Valentine's Day celebration. In sharing their
life stories and how they met, these couples enrich all or us and make
all of us realize that these relationships are like any other, filled
with love and fulfillment and deserving of our society's full
recognition.

PFLAG SCHOLARSHIP RECEPTIONS
In 2003, PFLAG Tucson initiated a
scholarship program for LGBT high school seniors, undergraduates, and
graduate students. This has become one of our most successful
programs, with PFLAG Tucson awarding more than $30,000 to outstanding
students. For more reception photos, follow
this link.

PRIDE ON PARADE
Every October before the Pride in the
Desert Festival, PFLAG marches in the annual Pride Parade. While
the rest of the country celebrates Pride Month in June, those of us in
Tucson celebrate in October to escape the heat. We welcome
everyone to walk with us.

PRIDE IN THE DESERT FESTIVAL
Every October the LGBT community of
southern Arizona sponsors its annual gay pride event. Moved to
October because of Tucson's torrid summer heat, this event draws
thousands of LGBT members to a day of exchanging ideas and information
and enjoying entertainment. Each year PFLAG Tucson has a booth
at the event to hand out materials and to reconnect with our many
friends in the community

THANKSGIVING EON HARVEST
DINNER
Each Thanksgiving PFLAG Tucson
collaborates with Wingspan to prepare a
Thanksgiving meal at Eon, Tucson's center for LGBT youth, to
ensure that every young person has a welcoming place to go for
Thanksgiving. Elaine and Art Woodland (at the right) of PFLAG ready to
enjoy the meal with Mark English of Wingspan and a Wingspan
volunteer.

SENIOR PRIDE HOLIDAY DINNER
Each year at Christmas, PFLAG Tucson
provides a holiday dinner for Tucson's LGBT seniors, collaborating
with Wingspan's Senior Pride group. Up to 50 people attend these
gatherings. For more photos of the dinner, follow
this link.
